Don't impose project on New London neighborhood

New London Planning and Zoning will soon vote regarding the Edgerton School proposal. In my opinion there is really only one way to vote on this. Vote no and preserve the neighborhood.

The City Council should have just voted no, but they did not. They took the easy way out and passed the buck.

I grew up nearby to this neighborhood and even attended Edgerton when it opened. The neighborhood has been stable with mostly residents with home ownership and a fiscal stake in the area. When they bought their homes they had reasonable expectations their city leaders would protect their neighborhood.

This project is bad for this neighborhood on so many counts. Space is not adequate. Additionally, the Edgerton project conflicts with the costly cleanup and development of badly needed ball fields at Veterans Field.

A no vote defends the neighborhood from further commercialism and protects the neighbors’ investments. Just vote no, please. This project does not meet the criteria for this neighborhood.
