Zone change unfair without citizen input

I would like to comment on the meeting regarding planning and zoning for C1 to C2 changes on the land formerly used for Edgerton school in New London. The limitations placed on individuals that night in regards to not being able to specifically state the issue of the housing matter was most problematic. Attorney Green was in attendance with a client who intends to create some structure on this land. Why was this not disclosed and discussed intelligently?

This information should have been discussed. Our politicians are elected to do the will of the people. In order to do this they must know the will of those people. That means allowing them to speak.

Every person specifically located near this land in question purchased their property, assessed its value, and paid their taxes based on the expectation of living in an area of C1 use. This is what it was when the school was in existence. Any such change may decrease the value of the land or disrupt the quality of their lives. What is the city expecting to do for them in return? Until a full disclosure is made to all city residents who will be affected, I expect the city to do what is expected of them and deny any such request.
