Feed kids fundamental respect for democracy, not fear

Teach kids to celebrate the process. That is my response to the article, "Connecticut parents, teachers spent Wednesday trying to explain Trump win to kids," (Nov.9). This article struck me because, rather than emphasizing and supporting the democratic process of a free society, our educators, and some parents feed their kids the experience of "fear and anxiety" about the election. Where does that fear and anxiety come from, if not from attitudes, and biased opinions, originating at home and in the classrooms?

There is an unmistakably, undeniable liberal bent in the U.S education system that when fed to our kids can, and has, resulted in scenarios like the post-election violence we have seen. This is not what America is about, and not what our warriors fought and died for.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but our kids are entitled to, and should expect civil, objective discourse from their parents and educators. Their healthy development demands it. America needs it.
