    GOP: Don't govern like it's 1929

Day after day, President Trump creates ever more chaos and revulsion. His chauvinistic delusions and dictates are undermining everything that makes us great and provoking the biggest protests in history.

My warning is to Republicans. Before they take advantage of the chaos, enacting a right-wing agenda, undermining agencies, laws, regulations and programs that benefit all Americans, they would be wise to consider Trump won on a populist message and Hillary Clinton won 3 million more popular votes. Despite Republicans gaining control of both houses of Congress, neither Trump, nor Republicans received a mandate to return our country to 2008 or 1929. There is no consensus to go it alone, disregard alliances; destroy the world order our soldiers have defended since 1945, or pull the carpet out from under the middle class to give another tax break to elites.

Two out of three presidents elected this century failed to win the popular vote, both Republican. Now, Republicans are failing to stand up to Trump's follies even when they know he's wrong. They will own the result for history. To be great, America deserves better. Grow a pair. Abandon Trump. Stop dismissing the majority with playground name calling. Work for consensus with Democrats.
