We shall overcome the days of Trump

We shall overcome! President Trump’s campaign rhetoric has become reality for our country. Any hope of him bringing our country together is quickly dissipating. He continues to disrespect and intimidate anyone who disagrees with his opinions or polices. The media has been deemed as the opposition party and anything printed contrary to his belief is called fake news.

He bullies our allies, mocks our intelligence agencies and then praises dictatorships. Trump has tried to ban the people of seven Muslim nations from coming into our country; to protect our citizens from suspected terrorists. What a sad moment in our country’s history, when people searching for safety and freedom are not allowed in based on their religion.

Trump omitted certain countries from the ban, and I have to wonder if they have any business dealings with Trump's company. Trump could resolve this concern by releasing his tax returns and business associations.

Let’s not be disheartened by our current political climate but instead rally together as a country, showing the world that we are a thoughtful and faith-filled people, not just at home but throughout the world. We shall overcome this moment in time by rising to be a more compassionate people.
