Congratulations for announcing George Fargo to the world, many of whom already know, ”Longtime EMT stepping away, leaving legacy of lifesaving skills,” (Feb 17). Besides training EMTs on the mainland, George also started the EMT training for Fishers Island, which he carried on for years, always in winter months when riding the ferry was not so pleasant.
Not only is he precious to the medical community but is a terrific role model and humanitarian, doing many sessions without pay or gratuity. When we had a huge flood in our messy basement, George and wife Kathleen came over with mops and buckets and pitched right into the filthy mess and helped clean up. May his heart of gold never wear out.
