I have always been a believer of the underdog. Maybe that’s why I enjoy the movie Rocky so much. Rocky Balboa from the outside looking in doesn’t have the ingredients or the heart of a true champion. He was overlooked, rejected and ostracized by many. Nevertheless, he had the potential, despite what critics said to not only be a champion but one that rises from among his own. And that’s what I see in New London.

New London is a diamond in the rough. We have everything that will make us a catalyst to economic revival and an emerging great city. We are evolving into the first and only all magnet regional school district system in Connecticut. Our transportation system is among the best. Our economic development is exploding in the midst of the chaos and conflict at the state level. All these are vital signs that demonstrate that New London is a city on the rise. Nothing ever happens by wishful thinking but by people who are determined to roll up their sleeves and make it happen.

For this reason, I’m asking New Londoners to come out and vote for me on Nov. 7, because I will be honored to continue to serve.
