Disagree about Trump, so let's talk it out

I'm sure Garrison Keillor doesn't need me to defend him, but I do feel compelled to acknowledge The Day for publishing his column, “Cue the fat lady, Trump is done,” (Oct. 4). I enjoy it every time. Unlike your reader from Old Lyme, I found it very clever and have recommended it to everyone I know. But perhaps that is part of the problem, I hang out only with people who agree with my perspective. So I have a great idea. Would your reader like to join me in the new StoryCorps initiative "One Small Step" and meet for a conversation? I used StoryCorps to record my beloved Mum before her Alzheimer's went too far, and I treasure having her voice to keep. The website describes their new plan as follows:

"StoryCorps will invite pairs of people of all backgrounds, who hold opposing political viewpoints, to record personal interviews with the goal of empowering participants and the people who hear these conversations to cross partisan divides and better understand each other."

I have already submitted my name and hope your reader will do the same so that we may as StoryCorps hopes "recognize our shared humanity."

Thank you for also publishing other columnists with differing views.
