Price increase notice was sorely lacking

Two months ago, The Day newspaper increased the home delivery and membership prices. It is surprising that The Day newspaper never made this public with any coverage in its own newspaper. In addition, as confirmed by simply calling the newspaper customer service number, many customers like me are now calling about the increase and inquiring why they were not informed about the price increase, which is over 10 percent.

Many would argue that The Day newspaper, or any business for that matter, has an obligation to inform its customers as to price increases. The response from The Day is that emails were sent informing customers, however, upon talking to The Day Customer Service Representatives, I learned many like me did not get notified.

I suggest The Day, a newspaper that should pride itself on its ability to communicate to the public, examine how best to communicate such things like a price increase of its own. It seems strange that The Day didn't think to publish this in their newspaper.

Editor’s note: The Day's practice for many years has been to provide our subscribers 30-day notice via email notifications. In an ongoing effort to improve communication with our membership, we will take Mr. Streimer's suggestion under advisement.
