    Connecticut-Grown gifts offered online

The Connecticut Department of Agriculture has launched an online store offering Connecticut Grown-themed clothing and other functional items.

T-shirts, polo shirts, baseball hats, coffee mugs, insulated tote bags and other merchandise featuring the Connecticut Grown logo are being offered for public sale for the first time through the website ConnecticutGrownStore.com, the department announced Tuesday.

"The Connecticut Grown logo represents a diverse array of food and other farm goods raised and made in our state," Agriculture Commissioner Steven K. Reviczky said in a news release.

"I have witnessed an increasing number of people wanting to visibly demonstrate their support for locally-sourced products and producers, and this store will give them the opportunity to do so," he said.

Those who become fans of an associated Facebook page, Facebook.com/CTGrownStore, will receive discounts, free shipping coupon codes and new product announcements as the 2014 holiday shopping season gets underway.

All major credit cards are accepted, and most items can be shipped.

On-site pickup at the Department of Agriculture offices at 165 Capitol Ave., Hartford, can also be arranged by appointment.

All proceeds from the online store will be put back into inventory to help make it a self-sustaining venture, the department said.
