Connecticut readies $7.5 million in cleanup funding

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced Wednesday a new $7.5 million round of funding to remediate and develop brownfields across the state.

The funding will come from the Connecticut Brownfield Remediation Program. Municipalities and economic development agencies are among those eligible for up to $2 million for remediation projects and $200,000 for assessments.

In southeastern Connecticut, a meeting at 10 a.m. March 16 at 5 Connecticut Ave. in Norwich will be held to explain the process. The meeting is being hosted by the Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments.

Applications are due April 14, and questions should be submitted to brownfields@ct.gov by March 23.
