Norwich — The Norwich Fire Department will host an open house at its Greeneville Station, 446 N. Main St., on Saturday, with a guest appearance by Smokey Bear and other fire prevention advocates.
The open house will run from noon to 3 p.m. as part of the department’s effort to promote fire prevention and safety. Local firefighters, Norwich police, Norwich Public Utilities and community organizations, including the Bully Busters and the Greeneville Neighborhood Revitalization Zone Committee, will participate.
The Greeneville fire station was built in 1896 and is the second oldest operating firehouse in the state.
