    Norwich relaunches website with many new features

    Norwich — The city is relaunching its website, with special consideration for the users who are accessing it on cellphones or tablet computers.

    About half of the daily visits to the website are made by users on mobile devices, according to a news release issued by the city this week. Many new online payment methods have been added and the platform has been strengthened, according to the release.

    Included among the new features and improvements are:

    [naviga:li]Users now can register for Recreation Department programs online[/naviga:li]

    [naviga:li]The city’s boat launch live webcam and all City Council and other promotional videos can now be viewed on the site[/naviga:li]

    [naviga:li]Cleaner menus and improved navigation[/naviga:li]

    [naviga:li]Updated colors and photos[/naviga:li]

    [naviga:li]A new section, titled “How do I,” where city officials will answer frequently asked questions[/naviga:li]

    [naviga:li]Links to the city’s Facebook and Twitter pages[/naviga:li]

    Users also will be able to sign up for reminders for City Council and other board and commission meetings through the city calendar’s “notify me” feature on the website.

    Additional features later will be added, including a city historian blog, access to older videos and the ability to make pavilion rentals online.

    In the announcement, city officials thank Norwich Free Academy photography class, especially Lydia Hindle of the Class of 2017, for supplying photos and other work that will be featured on the site in the spring.
