    Battle practice

Zachary Meisner, left, playing as a medieval knight, attacks Joshua Taylor, playing a nordic dwarf, during a practice session for the Freeblades of Cornith on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018 at Toby May Park in New London. The group plays Dagorhir Battle Games, a full contact foam fighting sport where players are invited to imitate any historical figure or character they choose. New fighters are always welcome to join the group's practices at the park every Tuesday from 3:30 to 5:30. (Sarah Gordon/The Day)
