France receives Republican endorsement for third term in 42nd District House seat
Ledyard— State Rep. Mike France, R-Ledyard, was endorsed last week for re-election to what would be his third term in the 42nd District House seat.
France, a engineering manager with Progeny Systems Corporation, unanimously was endorsed by Republican delegates from the district, which includes Ledyard, Preston and Montville.
“It has been a distinct honor serving the residents of the 42nd District as State Representative for the past four years,” France said in a news release. “During that time, I have been consistent in advocating for a state government that lives within its means without creating new revenue sources."
“I sincerely appreciate the confidence of Republican leaders to nominate me for a third term and look forward to earning the support of the voters in November," he said.
First elected to the legislature in 2014, France, a Navy veteran and former Ledyard town councilor, currently serves on the Appropriations, Planning & Development, and Government Administration & Elections committees.
Unlike 2016, when France ran unopposed for re-election, this year he faces a Democratic challenger in Liz Schwebel. Schwebel received the Democratic endorsement at a convention earlier this month.
