Catching air and making friends in New London

New London — Si Ross of Washington, D.C., was spending time Friday in the indoor skatepark at Hive Skate Shop.

Ross, a Connecticut College student, said he just discovered the indoor skatepark Thursday after breaking his board while skating outdoors and found the Hive Skate Shop to purchase a new board. He returned to use the indoor skatepark Friday because it was cold outside and members of the skate community he met on Thursday were really nice.

He said that one of the good things about skating is that you can make friends quickly with people with whom the only thing you may have in common is skating.
