    Local roundup: Old Lyme girls keep rolling

    Old Saybrook - Abby Stone had 21 points and five steals as the Old Lyme High School girls' basketball team downed rival Old Saybrook on Tuesday night, 55-41, in a Shoreline Conference game.

    Mary Kate Devlin had 14 points for Old Lyme (3-0, 3-0) and Julia Strycharz scored 12.

    Molly Beck had 19 points for the Rams (1-2, 1-2).

    In other games:

    • Michelle Klinikowski had 25 points and 11 rebounds as Ledyard won its first game of the season, 53-36, over Woodstock Academy in the Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division. Sarah Serbacewicz eight points and five steals for Ledyard (1-1, 1-0) and Julia Lavin scored 10.

    • Tatyana Lafrance Boyce had 23 points, nine steals and five assists as Stonington remained unbeaten with a 66-40 win over Wheeler. Margot Calmar added 21 points and 16 rebounds for the Bears (3-0) and Kate Hall scored 11 points. Mackenzie Brayman led the Lions (1-2) with nine points.

    • Taylor LaVallie scored eight points and Kiah Strickland five to highlight Montville's 31-24 victory over St. Bernard.

    The Indians are 2-0. Caitlyn Dittman scored 19 points to lead the Saints (1-1).

    • Jocelyn Luizzi had 20 points as Bacon Academy beat Fitch, 69-35, in the ECC Large. Abby Willauer scored 11 for Bacon.

    Summer Mills had 15 points for the Falcons (1-2, 0-1) and Jackie Lewis scored 8.

    • Marissa Shirshac scored 12 points as Windham Tech beat Norwich Tech 40-13 in the Constitution State Conference East opener for both schools. Vanessa Gumbs lead the Warriors (0-2, 0-1) with five points.

    Men's basketball

    • Ian Gardener scored 17 points to lead five St. Thomas More double-figure scorers as the Chancellors beat Coastal Academy (N.J.) 90-74. C.J. Byrd added 15 points, six rebounds and four assists for T-More (7-3) while Sterling Taplan had 14 points and seven assists, UConn-bound Steve Enoch 13 points and 11 rebounds and Sean Hoehn 11 points and five rebounds.

    • Fisher College jumped out to a 43-28 halftime lead and cruised to an 83-62 nonleague win over Mitchell College.

    Parris Hill and Wyatt Springer scored 11 points apiece for the Mariners (1-6) while Alan Morgan added 10 points and three assists.

    Men's soccer

    • Coast Guard Academy senior All-American goalkeeper Richie Burns was named to the ECAC Division III New England All-Star team. Burns was named a second team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) last week becoming the first Coast Guard player to earn NSCAA All-America honors since 1994.

    He was named a first team All-region selection earlier this week following his outstanding season in which he led the Bears to an NCAA tournament berth for the first time in 33 years.

    There was just one goalkeeper named to each of the three teams that were honored. Burns, a three-time All-New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference first-team pick, broke a pair of schools records, passing Jim Wimberley (1998-2000) for most shutouts in a single season (10) and most career shutouts (26).

    Men's water polo

    • Connecticut College junior Carlos Heros was named to the Northern Division All-Conference team. Heros finished with 46 goals, nine assists and 25 steals for the Camells, who reached the Northern Division championship. He had five goals, one assist and three steals in the final.

    Black Wolves lacrosse

    • The New England Black Wolves of the National Lacrosse League acquired Tye Belanger from the Colorado Mammoth in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2015 NLL Entry Draft.

    "He's a promising young goalie who we've had our eye on for a while," New England coach Blane Harrison said. "An opportunity presented itself for him to come in and solidify our back-up goalie position. At some point, he will challenge for number one."

    The Canadian Junior Goalie of the Year in 2011, Belanger was selected by Colorado with the 16th overall pick in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft. He has appeared in 33 games for the Mammoth, collecting a 7-6 record with a .739 save percentage and a12.39 goals against average. The Black Wolves open their season on Friday, Jan. 2, hosting the Buffalo Bandits at 7 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena.
