    Chadwick makes his way forward in SK Modified feature

    Waterford — Tyler Chadwick of Ledyard took the lead on lap 12 of the 35-lap SK Modified feature Saturday at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl and went on to win, highlighting the five-race Whelen All-American Series card.

    Jeff Gallup took the early lead in the division, followed by Paul Kusheba IV, who maintained the advantage on the restart following the race's only caution. Chadwick started 10th in the field, but made his way to the front and remained there. Joe Gada of Salem was second and Rob Janovic Jr. of Waterford was third. Janovic Jr. is now the unofficial points leader in the division.

    Other winners were Paul Buzel of Trumbull in the SK Light Modifieds, Brad Caddick of Wyoming, R.I., in the Mini Stocks, Chris Meyer of Norwich in the Limited Sportsman division and Jason Palmer of Berlin in the Late Models.

    Meyer didn't take the lead for good until the final lap in the 25-lap Limited Sportsman race. Monte Gibbs started from the pole and remained in front early. Meyer led on lap two and throughout a restart, only to have the lead claimed by Brandon Plemons of Uncasville six laps later. Meyer was followed by Gibbs, second and Plemons third.

    Palmer led from the second lap on in the 30-lap Late Model race. Vinnie Esposito of Waterbury was second and Joe Curioso of Mystic third.
