    Fitch boys beat Killingly soccer team in OT

    Groton — Meshama Charles scored a goal just 25 seconds into sudden death overtime to give Fitch High School a 2-1 boys' soccer victory over Killingly on Monday.

    Teddy Lee, who scored off a corner kicker in the first half to give the Falcons (4-7-1) a 1-0 lead, assisted on the game winner.

    Killingly had tied the game with just two minutes left in regulation on a goal by Brandon Turner.

    Goalie Greg Cooper made six saves for Fitch

    In other games:

    • Bacon Academy took over sole possession of first place in the Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division with a 2-1 victory over East Lyme. Tyler Lewis scored early in the game off a deflection and L.J. Luster converted on a corner kick to make it 2-0 for the Bobcats (8-1-2, 5-1) before James Foster, assisted by Jacob Walsh, scored for the Vikings (9-2, 5-2) with about five minutes remaning. Goalie Mike Trailor made six saves for East Lyme, which held a 16-11 edge in shots.

    • Lucas Chaude scored both goals, including the game-winner seven minutes into sudden-death overtime, as Montville escaped with a 2-1 victory over Windham. Ethan Rose assisted on Chaude's first goal in the 73rd minute, which wiped out a 1-0 deficit for the Indians (8-1-2). Montville held a 24-5 edge in shots and goalie Nik Strickland made three saves.

    • Ledyard scored a pair goals in the first half to defeat St. Bernard, 2-0. Owen Wheeler, assisted by Jack Woodruff, scored in the 18th minute for the Colonels (3-8) while A.J. Genova converted a penalty kick in the 36th minute. Isiah McNair made two saves to earn the shutout while goalie Juan Uran made 11 saves for the Saints (4-7).

    • After allowing Cromwell to take a 1-0 lead in the first two minutes, Old Lyme came alive to earn a 3-1 victory over the Panthers in the Shoreline Conference. Will Ferguson tied it for the Wildcats (8-1-3, 7-0-2) before Danny Reid set up goals by Nate Peduzzi and Cooper St. Germain. Cromwell is 4-4-2, 4-3-2.

    • Alex Haynes made three saves during Wheeler's 3-0 nonleague loss to Parish Hill. The Lions are 1-11.

    Girls' soccer

    • Ledyard spotted St. Bernard an early goal before bouncing back to defeat the Saints 5-1. Kelley Lamb scored two goals and assisted on a third for the Colonels (8-2) while Alyssa Samson, Alex Natale and Emily Kowalski each had a goal and Isabelle Mercer and Olivia Holubecki added assists. Kim Bassett scored for the Saints (5-5-1) in the eighth minute.

    • Allison Bourassa broke a 1-1 tie with 23:55 remaining to give Parish Hill a 2-1 nonleague win over Wheeler. Emma Morgan scored the lone goal for the Lions (2-8) and goalie Kyle Garcia made 11 saves.

    H.S. volleyball

    • Lexie Galluci had eight aces, one kills and 16 assists to highlight Wheeler's 25-14, 25-19 and 25-23 win over Ledyard. Nikki Collins added two aces, five kills and 10 digs for the Lions (5-8). Ledyard is 1-12.

    Women's soccer

    • Vannessa Ortiz's goal in the 63rd minute helped Mitchell College earn a 2-2 overtime draw with Southern Vermont in the New England Collegiate Conference. Taylor Silva had given the Mariners (1-6-3, 0-3-1) a quick 1-0 lead with a goal in the third minute. Goalie Katie McBride made three saves for Mitchell. Southern Vermont is 7-4-1, 3-0-1.

    Men's tennis

    • Coast Guard Academy ended its season with a 9-0 win over Nichols. Mark Guentert, Thomas Hackett, Robert Renfrow, Weston Fortna, Michael Melampy and John Hu won singles matches for the Bears (4-1), as did the doubles teams of Guentert-Fortna, Benston Errington-Hackett and Melampy-Jack Phillips.

    Women's tennis

    • Mitchell ended its season with a 6-3 loss to Lesley in the NECC. Brittany Fuller and Lehayla Cruz won their singles matches for the Mariners (3-9, 3-7) and also teamed up to win at No. 3 doubles.
