    Local roundup: Tigers top Cyclones 3-2

    Norwich — Despite being held to two hits, the Connecticut Tigers beat the Brooklyn Cyclones 3-2 in a New York-Penn League baseball game on Thursday night.

    The Tigers (5-2) took a 1-0 lead when Will Savage scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning but they didn't get their first hit until Josh Lester singled with one out in the seventh. Keaton Jones singled home Cole Bauml and Lester.

    Victor Mueses (2-0) got the win with two scoreless innings of relief and Eduardo Jimenez pitched a hitless ninth for his second save.

    Schooners win

    • Taishi Terashima tripled and scored on Nick Mascelli's single in the top of the 11th inning as the Mystic Schooners beat the Ocean State Waves 6-5 in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.

    Mystic (6-6) scored four runs in the top of the 10th to take a 5-1 lead, but David Real's grand slam in the bottom of the 10th tied the score. Zach Goldstein (Southern New Hampshire) and Mascelli (Wagner) had two hits each and Terashima (St. Bonaventure) scored twice for Mystic.

    Senior Legion baseball

    • Alex Tryon had a single, double, triple and four RBI and Matt Kane became Niantic's seventh different starting pitcher with a victory in a 10-0 defeat of Moosup which ended after six innings due to the mercy rule. Kane struck out seven over five innings. Sam Gonski added three hits for Niantic (9-0), Matt Malcom two hits and Matt Przybysz two hits and three runs scored.

    • Waterford only had four hits but beat Norwich 3-2. Kyle McComic was the winning pitcher for Waterford (6-2). Joe DiPietro and Derek Cholewa had a single and double each for Norwich (3-7).

    • Ledyard/Pawcatuck lost to TriTown 5-0. On Wednesday, Ledyard-Pawcatuck scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning and held on for a 6-5 win over TriTown. In the seventh, Mike Bruce drove in a run and Bryce Bedard drove in two runs and Connor McCrea pitched a scoreless seventh to earn a save. Bedard had two hits for Ledyard/Pawcatuck (2-6).

    SEC 16-18 Babe Ruth

    • Waterford Red beat Waterford Blue 10-8. Derek Jones had two hits and Spencer Hoagland, Cody Cleary and Matt Driscoll doubled for Red (2-0). Jake Huff and Tommy Feliciano had doubles for the Blues (2-1).

    • Michael Cohan went the distance for the win and drove in two runs as East Lyme Maroon beat Tri-County 5-4. Liam McCarthy had two hits for Maroon and Cam Brown went the distance and had two hits for Tri-County.

    • Saxon Herbert pitched a two-hitter as Three Rivers beat Northeast Nine 12-1 on Wednesday night. Herbert allowed an unearned run, struck out 14 and walked two. Josh Dow had three hits, Casey Susi and Austin Gillespie drove in three runs each and Chris Gibb scored three runs for Three Rivers.

    District 10 softball (11-12)

    • Elaine Previty pitched a complete game as Pawcatuck beat East Lyme 12-5 on Wednesday. Maddie Stepski and Phoebe Werling had three hits each and Shea O'Connor had two hits for Pawcatuck. Jaylyn Mueller had three hits and Allie Laplante had two hits each for East Lyme.
