    Local roundup: Old Lyme boys' golf team remains unbeaten

    Middlefield — Graham Aird and Mason Swaney each carded a 38 as Old Lyme remained unbeaten with a 155-197 victory over North Branford in a Shoreline Conference boys' golf match at Indian Springs Golf Club on Wednesday.

    Cam Roberts had a 39 and Matt McCarthy shot a 40 for the Wildcats (5-0, 5-0).

    H.S. girls' lacrosse

    • Kate Johnson finished with four goals and three assists to help lift unbeaten Stonington past Fitch 16-6. Margit Burgess added four goals for the Bears (7-0) and Lexi Woviotis, Emma Sabbadini and Hannah Lamb had two each. Madelyn Catlett had three goals for Fitch (1-5).

    Boys' lacrosse

    • Jack Darcy scored four goals as Guilford scored five goals in the fourth quarter and outlasted East Lyme 14-11 in a non-league match. Sean Williams led the Vikings (4-3) with four goals and three assists while James McCoy added three goals, Connor Schofner, Matt Boguszewski, Matt Bauman and Larry Nolan each scored one, and goalie Mac Bentley made 10 saves.

    Men's lacrosse

    • Freshman Riley McNulty set a Coast Guard Academy single-game points record (eight) with four goals and four assists as the Bears beat Mass. Maritime 15-6 in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference game. Anthony Wyler had two goals and two assists, Jack Pope had two goals and an assist and Cole Hudson scored twice for Coast Guard (10-5, 4-2), which has won four straight. 

    • Connecticut College's rally came up short, losing to No. 7 Wesleyan 9-8 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game. Wesleyan (14-1, 9-1) led 9-3 late in the third period before Conn reeled off the last five goals. Jackson Kleintz and Jordan Foster scored two goals each, P.J. Kelleher had a goal and two assists and John Cunningham had a goal and an assist for Conn (7-8, 3-7), the eighth seed in the NESCAC tournament. Conn plays at No. 1 Bates in a quarterfinal on Saturday.

    • Junior Brian Jordan scored four goals and added an assist in Mitchell College's 16-8 loss to top-seeded Regis College in the New England Collegiate Conference tournament semifinals. Kyle Marsh, a sophomore from Montville, had two goals and two assists and Jacob Setzko added a goal for the fourth-seeded Mariners (2-10), who lost the regular season meeting between the two teams, 17-9, on Saturday.

    Women's lacrosse

    • No. 17 Wesleyan beat Conn College 18-10 in a NESCAC game. Tina Balzotti scored three goals, Jamie Navoni, Clara Bisson and Lacey Hale had two goals each and Kirby Heffrin had two assists for Conn, which finishes its season at 3-12, 0-10.

    Men's tennis

    • Coast Guard ended its regular season with a 9-0 win over Clark in the NEWMAC. John Hu, Mike Melampy, Adam Bahney, Jack Phillips, Ben Errington and Arthur Wicke won singles matches for the Bears (7-8, 4-2). Coast Guard is the No. 3 seed in the NEWMAC tournament and plays No. 2 Babson in the semifinals on May 6 at MIT.

    College baseball

    • Chris Hess had three doubles and a triple, leading Rhode Island to a 7-2 win over UConn in a nonleague game. Six pitchers combined to pitch a five-hitter for URI (22-16). North Stonington's Troy Stefanski scored a run and stole a base for UConn (22-17).
