Local roundup: Kogelmann lifts Conn to OT victory
Bristol, R.I. — Alyssa Kogelmann's overtime goal lifted the Connecticut College women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Roger Williams in its opener on Wednesday night.
Conn's Alexa Tribelli put a shot on Roger Williams goalie Natalie O'Donovan, who stopped the shot. But Kogelmann, a freshman, collected the ball and knocked in the game winner. Michelle Medina of Conn tied the game with a second-half goal.
College volleyball
• Mitchell College lost to Nichols in a nonleague match, 26-24, 25-15, 28-26. Lauren Tompkins had 24 assists, Marissa Sweeney had eight kills and Waterford's Megan Elphick had 10 digs for Mitchell (0-2).
Tigers rained out
• The Connecticut Tigers' New York-Penn League game at the Tri-City ValleyCats was canceled due to rain. The two teams will complete their season with a game Thursday at Troy, N.Y., beginning at 6:30 p.m.
