    Local roundup: Coast Guard rallies past Conn in volleyball

    New London — Makenna Martin had 32 assists and 14 digs as Coast Guard rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat host Connecticut College in a nonleague volleyball match on Thursday night.

    Conn took the lead with 26-24 and 29-27 wins but Coast Guard tied it up with 25-19 and 25-14 wins before closing it out with a 15-8 win in Game 5.

    Bridget Boyle had 18 kills and 17 digs, Angelou Dunton had 14 kills and 18 digs and Michelle McGill had 26 digs for Coast Guard (15-9). Sam Hunter had 13 kills and 15 digs and Grace McGee had 32 assists and 18 digs for the Camels (11-7).

    In other matches:

    • Bay Path beat Mitchell College 25-22, 25-14, 25-23 in a New England Collegiate Conference match. Lauren Tompkins had 13 assists for Mitchell (1-15, 1-3). 

    H.S. field hockey

    • Kaitlin Kluge scored in the first half and East Lyme held on to beat Fitch/Ledyard 1-0 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference match. Caroline Healy assisted on the goal for the Vikings (6-8, 6-4). Erin Ritter made 17 saves for Fitch/Ledyard (8-6, 5-5).

    • Abby Flakus scored twice and Erin Craig added two assists as Stonington downed Woodstock Academy, 5-1, in the ECC. Miranda Arruda, Hannah Pratt and Keegan Donohue scored for the Bears (11-3, 10-0). Also, Maddie Cassell had an assist and Aliza Bell had four saves for Stonington. Olivia Stanikmas had 11 saves for the Centaurs.

    • Corrine West and Alyssa Elci scored for Killingly in its 2-0 win over Waterford in the ECC. Alyssa Gaudreal had six saves for Killingly (4-9, 4-7). Lili Stoddard had six saves for the Lancers (7-5-1, 6-4).

    • Tori Gearlame had three goals for Enfield as it downed Norwich Free Academy, 9-0. NFA is 0-12.

    H.S. boys' soccer 

    • Grayson Guinan and George Sun scored three goals each as Williams School beat St. Thomas More 14-0. Sebastian Marshall had a pair of goals and Nick Chirillo, Nate Marchesi, James Knowlton, Alex Bowdler and Fehme Braish also scored for the Blues. St. Thomas More had an own goal.

    • Keshav Garcia-Patel had a pair of second-half goals as Fitch beat St. Bernard 3-0. Andrew Kerst's goal gave Fitch a 1-0 halftime lead. Caleb Robbins, Eric Leuchner and Giovanni Valentine had assists for Fitch (7-7-1). Martin Arvidson made six saves for the Saints (3-10-2).

    • Juan Avila scored twice as Morgan edged Norwich Free Academy, 3-2. Zach Tuccitto scored for Morgan. Nate Cherenzia and Alex Jacobik scored for the Wildcats (5-7-1) and Ryan Godino had five saves.

    • Alfonso Vazquez scored three times as ECC Division III champion Windham beat Wheeler 5-0. Bowen Baker made eight saves for Wheeler, which finishes its season at 5-11, 4-8.

    • Coginchaug took a two-goal lead at halftime and held on to beat Montville 2-1 in a nonleague game. Tyler Velazquez scored, Ethan Rose had an assist and Jose Zuniga made nine saves for Montville (5-9-1).

    • Cole Hackett and Elias Child scored as Woodstock Academy downed Old Lyme, 2-0. Ryan Tetrault had four saves for Old Lyme (0-9-4).

    H.S. girls' soccer

    • Jacklyn Lavoie scored an unassisted goal with 10 minutes remaining as Waterford edged St. Bernard, 1-0. Skyler Henry had two saves for Waterford (7-8-1). Briana Beverly had 10 saves for the Saints (9-5).

    • Mya Johnson scored twice and Maddie Ouellette had a goal and an assist as Old Lyme remained undefeated with a 3-0 win over Woodstock Academy in a nonleague game. Emily Rivera and Emma McCulloch combined for 10 saves for Old Lyme (14-0). 

    • Sydney Winakor scored three goals as Montville beat Harding 7-0 in a nonleague game. Kara Beaupre and Alexis Delucia had a goal and an assist each, Emily Meigs had four assists and Lauren Velazquez and Olivia Meehan had goals for the Indians (9-5-1).

    • Wheeler lost to Killingly, 6-0. Lauren Rockwell made 15 saves for Wheeler (0-13-1).

    H.S. girls’ volleyball

    • Southington beat NFA 25-17, 25-21, 25-11. Kayley Ericson had 20 assists and Eliana Jewell 11 kills for NFA (7-9).

    H.S. girls' swimming

    • Ella Dyjak and Elyse Gathy won two events each as Waterford beat Haddam-Killingworth 99-68 in a nonleague meet on Wednesday. Dyjak won the 200 and 500 freestyles and Gathy won the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke for the Lancers (8-3).

    H.S. cross country

    • Williams School competed in a tri-meet on Wednesday at Wilbraham, Mass, taking second place in both races. Mary Madaus led the girls' team with a second-place finish (22:39) and teammate Grace Cassineri was fifth (26:33). Will Jarrett's fifth-place finish (19:47) led the boys' team.
