UPDATED: Mechanical problems keep Fisher Island ferry at dock
New London — The 7 a.m. Fishers Island Ferry was canceled Monday because of mechanical problems, said RJ Burns, the company’s operational manager.
Burns said they were working on the unspecified mechanical problem on the MV Munnatawket, which is 37 years old.
Burns said the company’s other ferry is being repaired at the Thames Shipyard.
According to the company’s website, they used Cross Sound Ferry boat, the North Star, to run its 11:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. service and will use it again to run the 3:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. trips.
The 6:15 p.m. service is canceled.
On Tuesday, the ferry will again use the North Star to run its morning and afternoon service.
