UPDATED: Portion of Old Colchester Road reopens in Oakdale

Montville - A portion of Old Colchester Road in Oakdale reopened overnight after crews from Eversource Energy repaired a transformer damaged in a car accident.

The accident was reported at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the area of Jennie Drive. Fire officials said it appeared a vehicle struck the wire attached to a utility pole, which in turn sent a transformer attached to the top of the pole to the ground.

The roadway was closed for more than eight hours as the utility crew fixed the damage. Eversource Energy did not have any reports of power outages while repairs were underway.
