Norwich - Musical director Special Nabisubi warmed up members of the African Children's Choir with stretches prior to a performance for staff at United Community and Family Services Edward and Mary Lord Family Health Center in Norwich Thursday.

The choir, comprised of 18 members aged 7-11 from Uganda, is in the area to perform Friday night at Cornerstone City Church in Norwich.

Cornerstone's pastor, Shaun Pillay, who hails from South Africa, is on the board at UCFS and arranged for the children to get dental screenings and use space at the clinic for their studies in exchange for a short concert for the staff. The parent organization for The African Children's Choir, Music for Life, works in seven African countries: Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa.

The purpose of Music for Life is children's education. The program trains groups of children for five months at home before they depart on an 11 month around-the-world tour. This is the 43rd choir sent on tour.
