Paddington storytime to aid homeless slated for Stonington Free Library

Stonington — The Stonington Free Library has scheduled a May 6 Paddington Storytime to help the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness raise awareness and funds to end family homelessness.

During the 6:30 to 7 p.m. event, children will read the story of Paddington bear, talk about family homelessness and participate in activities in an age-appropriate way. They can also participate in a marmalade jar fundraiser to help those in need. Orange marmalade is Paddington’s favorite food. More information about the event is available by calling the library at (860) 535-0658.

Stonington Free Library is among four libraries in the state that have so far scheduled Paddington storytimes for May. The first was held in New Haven this winter. For information on scheduling an event, contact Madeline Ravich, mravich@cceh.org, or visit http://www.behomeful.org/storytime.

Last December, CCEH partnered with Paddington to launch its be homeful, a campaign designed to help families on the brink of homelessness by making funds available to keep them in their homes. A film about Paddington, who was once homeless in the book about him, opened in theaters in January.
