    East Lyme annual town meeting set for Monday

    East Lyme — The town's annual meeting to review the proposed 2015-16 budget will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, May 11, at the East Lyme High School Auditorium, according to the agenda.

    The total proposed budget, approved last month by the Board of Finance, stands at $67,145,328, or 3.12 percent more than the current year's spending plan.

    The budget comprises $44,033,080, or a 2.9 percent increase, for the Board of Education; $16,694,937, or a 3.52 percent increase, for general government; $1,099,705, or a 1.01 percent increase, for capital; $5,317,606, or a 4.16 percent increase, for debt service, according to budget documents on the town's website.

    Approving a five-year capital plan for the town also is on the agenda for Monday's meeting.

    The meeting is slated to adjourn to a townwide budget referendum, which will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 21 at the East Lyme Community Center.
