    East Lyme budget referendum Thursday

    East Lyme — A townwide referendum vote on the proposed 2015-16 budget will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdayat the Community Center.

    The overall 2015-16 budget, approved by the Board of Finance, stands at $67,145,328, or a 3.12 percent increase. The budget is comprised of $16,694,937 for general government; $5,317,606 for debt service; $1,099,705 for capital costs; and $44,033,080 for the Board of Education.

    The tax rate is projected to increase by .68 mills if the budget is approved. The Board of Finance will set the tax rate at a special meeting to be held later.
