New London — Lawrence + Memorial Healthcare and the Yale-New Haven Health System, which have been in discussions about an affiliation since February, will make an annoucement Wednesday afternoon at L+M Hospital.

L+M Chief Executive Office Bruce Cummings and Yale-New Haven Chief Executive Officer Marna Borgstrom will make the announcement at 2 p.m. in the hospital lobby, with L+M Board Chairman Alan Hunter and hospital physicians present, L+M said in a news release.

Last month, L+M acknowledged months of speculation by confirming that talks with Yale-New Haven were taking place. L+M administrators said they planned to submit an application for approval of the affiliation with the state Office of Healthcare Access, the regulatory agency that must approve the arrangement, this summer.
