Volunteers needed for water quality monitoring

The Wood Pawcatuck Watershed Association is seeking volunteers to continue its water quality monitoring work to protect the rivers, ponds and streams in the watershed.

The monitoring work, taking place for over 20 years, this year will monitor 46 sites in the 310-square-mile watershed.

Volunteers are needed for all 46 sampling locations.

The University of Rhode Island’s Watershed Watch program provides all of the training and equipment volunteers will need to monitor the sites (except a boat for lake or pond sites).

Classroom training for new volunteers will take place at URI’s Kingston campus at 9 a.m. April 2. It will be repeated April 6 at 6 p.m. April 6.

For information, send an email to: eherron@uri.edu or call: (401) 874-4552, or visit their "New Volunteer Training Page" at: http://buff.ly/1WJN0u7.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
