Juvenile faces attempted murder charge in Westbrook assault

State police have arrested a juvenile on the charge of attempted murder in connection with an assault on another juvenile Friday at a private boarding school in Westbrook.

State police responded to a report of an injured juvenile male at 8:30 p.m. at Oxford Academy on Boston Post Road. The victim was flown by Life Star helicopter to an area hospital for treatment, police said.

The suspect fled the scene of the assault on foot. State police on Tuesday reported the juvenile was in custody following a search by state police, aided by several K9 teams, a bloodhound and a state police drone unit.

The juvenile suspect, who remains in custody, was taken to a hospital for an evaluation.

Police have provided few other details of the incident, citing the fact the victim and suspect are under the age of 18. Police declined to provide an updated condition of the victim.
