While our favorite pet, Pedro, our frog landlord, is in hibernation, we’ve adopted two flamingos for the winter, Ruby and Rose. Left in our garden by their former unloving owners on Christmas Day, with only skimpy wool scarves, we’ve brought them into the warmth of our greenhouse, showered them with love and bird feed, and washed them every day. Notably unresponsive, we’re sad to say.
