Old Lyme annual budget meeting to be held Monday

Old Lyme — Residents will vote on the town's 2016-17 budget at its annual meeting scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday in the auditorium of Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School.

The Board of Finance presented a 2016-17 budget of $35,208,538, or 1.3 percent more than the current spending plan, at a public hearing last month.

At the town meeting, residents will also vote on a schedule of two semi-annual installments for real estate and property taxes. The installments would be due on July 1, 2016 and Jan. 1, 2017, according to a town notice. Taxes in these categories under $100 would be due in one payment in July. Vehicles on the supplemental list would be due in one payment in January 2017.

Lastly, townspeople will vote on whether or not to allow the town to accept and spend donations of private money for the boathouse project.

The Board of Finance is slated to set the tax rate for 2016-17 at its meeting scheduled to take place immediately following the town budget meeting.
