"I AM DIRT" program to take place Monday in East Lyme

East Lyme — The Brian T. Dagle Memorial Foundation, the East Lyme Youth Coalition, East Lyme Youth Services Bureau, East Lyme and Waterford Public Schools and the Niantic Rotary Club organizations are offering a free program, “I AM DIRT.”

The program, which is a "one-man show that explores the challenges and decisions that young people face every day," will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at the East Lyme High School Auditorium, according to a news release.

"Dirt gets to the heart of issues related to drugs, bullying, and self esteem in a manner that resonates with audiences in a real and meaningful way," the news release states.

"Through the portrayal of relatable and memorable characters, John Morello gives voice to those who sometimes feel as though they are not heard and reassurance to those who sometimes feel as though they are not understood," the release continued.

"John does not preach, teach, or lecture; instead, he takes students and parents on a journey that challenges them to think about the choices they make and how those choices impact their own lives and the lives of those around them," it said.

Morello also will perform for student assemblies at East Lyme and Waterford High Schools during the school day.
