New London fire officials respond to two overdoses on Denison Avenue

New London — Fire officials responded to two overdoses between 7 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the same Denison Avenue address.

Battalion Chief Tom Curcio said that one person was reported to be "acting strangely" on the street and another was found unconscious on the second floor of a residence.

Narcan was administered to the unconscious person and later to the person who was on the street, after that person "developed breathing problems," according to Curcio.

Fire officials on Wednesday said the first person was a 33-year-old man, while the second was a 31-year-old man.

Two ambulances were called and both people were transported to the hospital.

Fire personnel reported via their Facebook page that each person was successfully revived, but said by phone they didn't yet know what drug was used in the overdoses.
