    Two dozen local sites among 170 statewide participating in open house day

    More than 170 attractions, from historical sites and museums to renowned theaters and unique foodie stops, will offer free or discounted admission, special activities, giveaways and hands-on activities for the kids on Connecticut Open House Day on June 11.

    About two dozen southeastern Connecticut sites are among those participating in the event, which is in its 12th year.

    Southeastern Connecticut attractions that will be participating include:

    • Ashbel Woodward House Museum, Franklin

    • Avery-Copp House, Groton

    • Bill Memorial Library, Groton

    • Ebenezer Avery House, Groton

    • Gateway Museum at Nature Art's Village, Montville

    • The Dinosaur Place at Nature Art's Village, Montville

    • Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center, Mystic

    • Mystic & Noank Library, Mystic

    • Mystic Aquarium, Mystic

    • Denison Homestead Museum, Mystic

    • Custom House Maritime Museum, New London

    • Hempstead Houses, New London

    • Monte Cristo Cottage, New London

    • Shaw Mansion, New London

    • Samuel Smith House, Niantic

    • Thomas Lee House, Niantic

    • Faith Trumbull DAR Chapter House, Norwich

    • Leffingwell House Museum, Norwich
