Vigil planned in Norwich Wednesday evening for Orlando victims

Norwich — A memorial vigil and bell-ringing will be held at 7:45 tonight in the City Hall courtyard for the 49 victims of Sunday's Orlando Pulse nightclub mass shooting.

The Republican Town Committee will host the vigil at the David Ruggles Freedom Courtyard, 100 Broadway in downtown Norwich. Free parking is available in a neighboring parking deck.

The event is open to the public and will include brief remarks and the ringing of the city's Freedom Bell 49 times for the victims killed in the Sunday attack by gunman Omar Mateen.
