Groton — The concert scheduled for Friday evening in Washington Park in Groton has been canceled due to the threat of severe weather, Groton Utilities announced in a news release.

The band "Rewind" was due to play at 6:30 p.m., as part of the Concerts in the Park 2016, co-sponsored by the City of Groton Parks and Recreation and the utility. The concert was called off due to concern for the safety of concertgoers, the release said.

The concert will be rescheduled at a later date.
