    Urban, Mullane to debate on Sept. 29

    Stonington — The first debate between eight-term incumbent Democrat State Rep. Diana Urban and Republican Nick Mullane, the two candidates for the 43rd District seat, will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Stonington Community Center.

    The debate is being sponsored by the Stonington Community Forum Facebook page, the Westerly Sun and the League of Women Voters.

    The debate moderator will be Westerly Sun editor David Tranchida.

    The Day will sponsor an online lunchtime debate between the two candidates between 1 and 2 p.m. on Oct. 25.

    The 43rd District comprises Stonington and North Stonington. Both candidates live in North Stonington, where Mullane is on the Board of Selectmen and served 30 years as first selectman before deciding not to run for the position last fall.
