    Playgroup to meet at Camp Harkness

    Waterford — The Camp Harkness Playgroup, a family support group, will meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 29, Nov. 19 and Dec. 10 at Camp Harkness.

    The group is open to families with children with disabilities and their siblings. Children will meet with other children and participate in activities supervised by experienced staff. Parents will have the opportunity to hear guest speakers, socialize, access information and receive support.

    On Oct. 29, Jenn Lussier from the Connecticut Parent Advocacy Center will speak about special education, and Patti Passmore will speak about the medical home program. On Nov. 19, Trish Lynch from TherapyWorks of Old Lyme will speak about nutrition and sensory issues and the effects on children. On Dec. 10, Deb Dickson from TherapyWorks will give a presentation titled, “Is It Sensory or Is It Behavior,” a talk about understanding sensory processing in early childhood and strategies for effective interventions.
