Region could see 1 to 3 inches of snow early Monday morning

Residents of southeastern Connecticut could awaken Monday to a few inches of snow on the ground.

Inland communities such as Norwich and Montville are expected to get between 1 and 3 inches overnight, while those along the coast are predicted to receive an inch or less of snow. The snow will change to rain during the early morning hours as temperatures rise through the 40s and end before noon. Winds will also be increasing.

The University of Connecticut announced Sunday it would have a delayed opening at its Storrs campus due to expected poor driving conditions. Non-essential employees at those UConn campuses will report to work at 10 a.m. Monday, and final exams scheduled before 10 a.m. will be rescheduled to Thursday. The Avery Point campus will operate on its normal schedule.
