Mystic — A crew from Tennett Tree Service removed the elm from the triangular traffic island at Broadway and Willow Street in Mystic on Thursday. The tree was judge to be dead by town tree warden Dan Oliverio and was also a problem with power lines.

The town now plans to plant a new tree in the triangular traffic island and possibly work with a firm to turn the wood from the tree that was removed into furniture or a bench.
