    Voters may register on Tuesday for Groton City election

    Groton — The Registrar of Voters will hold a special session from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday to register people to vote in the upcoming Groton City election.

    The special session will be held in the registrar's office at 2 Fort Hill Road.

    Keith Hedrick, the city's deputy mayor and a Democrat, is running for mayor on May 1 against Harry Watson, a Republican town councilor.

    Democratic incumbent City Councilors Lawrence Gerrish, Conrad F. Heede, Stephen Sheffield and Jill Rusk are seeking re-election. Democratic candidates Rashaad Carter and Jamal Beckford are also running for city council seats.

    On the Republican side, Town Councilor Greg Grim is running, along with Emily Maher, Joshua Trask, Christopher M. Calkins Jr., William J. Robarge and Robert L. Zuliani.
