Climate-change documentary creators to lead program at Conn College

New London — The executive producers and co-creators of the National Geographic Channel’s climate change documentary series, “Years of Living Dangerously,” will lead a program from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Palmer Auditorium at Connecticut College.

The event will include the screening of an episode of the Emmy Award-winning series, followed by a conversation led by executive producers and co-creators Joel Bach and David Gelber.

The series provides firsthand reports by a team of correspondents from the entertainment and news industries who travel around the world. They interview scientists and experts and cover those directly affected by climate change, as well as those seeking solutions.

In the days leading up to the event, additional episodes of the series will be screened at 7 p.m. in Silfen Auditorium in Bill Hall. “Gathering Storm” will be shown on Monday, “A Race Against Time” will be shown on Tuesday and “Collapse of the Oceans” will be shown on Wednesday.

In conjunction with the event, a petition is being circulated on campus asking policymakers to “put a price on carbon” and take actions to mitigate climate change.

The series is sponsored by the Linda Lear Lecture Fund of The Goodwin-Niering Center for the Environment and the Environmental Studies Program.

    Admission is free.
