Old Mystic, borough fire departments to hold April 23 open houses
Stonington — The Old Mystic and Stonington Borough fire departments are scheduled to hold open houses from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, to celebrate Volunteer Firefighter Day.
The open houses are part of a campaign to recruit new volunteer firefighters for both departments. The two departments are among about 60 across the state holding open houses.
Visitors to the fire houses will be able to talk with volunteer firefighters about the work they do, explore fire apparatuses and turnout gear, get a tour of the fire house and fill out an application. The borough fire house is located at 100 Main St. in the borough while Old Mystic Station No. 1 is located at 21 North Stonington Road, Mystic.
