Cleanups planned in Last Green Valley towns

Cleanups will take place in Norwich, Groton, Sprague and Lebanon this month as part of a series of cleanups throughout The Last Green Valley National Heritage Corridor.

Funding for many of these cleanups has been provided in part by The Last Green Valley. Visit www.thelastgreenvalley.org for information.

    The local cleanups are:

    • Clean Up Lebanon, a monthlong, townwide cleanup. Free blue garbage bags are available at the first selectman’s office, and residents are asked to pick up roadside trash throughout the month. Bags should be left by the side of the road for pickup by town crews.

    • Norwich Free Academy students from the school’s marine and environmental sciences programs will be doing cleanups this month and in May.

    • Sprague will host a townwide Earth Day Cleanup from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 22. Participants should meet at the Grist Mill parking lot. There will be free pizza for volunteers at 1 p.m.

    • The Groton Open Space Association will host Haley Farm Cleanup Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 22 at Haley Farm State Park. Work gloves, trash bags, food and drinks will be provided to volunteers.
