Ten-year-old Farrah Scott of Mystic, a student at Northeast Academy in Groton, came in first place May 5 during a Girls on the Run 5k race at Pine Point School in Stonington.

It was her first long-distance race, and she far outpaced the field, reports Farrah’s mom, Tanya Branco-Scott.

“This was a surprise for Farrah because she didn’t realize she could run so fast for a long distance.” she said.
