Waterford — Quaker Hill Elementary School is the “outstanding elementary school of the year,” according to the Connecticut Association of Schools, a nonprofit organization that represents more than 800 schools statewide.

A committee at the association found an “inclusive and accepting environment that focuses on meeting the needs of every student ... multiple venues for communication with parents and community, and (a) multitude of learning opportunities for students” at Quaker Hill, according to a news release from district officials.

Deans Mill School in Stonington won the award for this past school year.

The award will be presented to Quaker Hill Elementary students and staff at the school during a ceremony, according to the news release.
