Norwich — The Libertarian Party on Friday submitted petitions to place six candidates for City Council on the November ballot, the party's mayoral candidate, William Russell, said.

Russell said petitions with 60 names were submitted for the slate, and 49 names were verified as Norwich registered voters. The group needed 45 verified petition signatures to be placed on the ballot.

The Libertarian council candidates on the ballot are: James E. Fear, Justin Massaro, Stacy Cottle, Janice Loomis, Nicholas Casiano and Richard Bright.

Russell said petitions for two potential Libertarian school board candidates, Reuben Eddy and Mary Ellen Eddy, should be submitted next week. The deadline for petitions to be filed for third-party and petitioning candidates is 4 p.m. Wednesday.
